When you can’t decorate your vintage camper, pile. 04/16/11

Antsy to start pouring goodies into the new camper (a 1968 Shasta LoFlyte), I’m just starting a pile. We were going to get it this weekend, but bad weather and allergies overruled. I know…I need to clean, paint, and repair first, but that’s not stopping me from picking out dishes and sheets. Typical.

Pile it up if you can't decorate

*We ended up with a ’68 Shasta LoFlyte after the Model 1500 turned out to have more damage than originally disclosed. We just don’t have the room or time to do extensive renovation, so onto a more suitable home that one goes. The LoFlyte is a better fit for us, anyway since we can keep it in the garage.

i AM SO happy that you are sharing about the process… we recently were given a popup… and i was resigned to the interior… but am now inspired by you to rework it!

Oh yeah! There are lots of cute things you could do with a pop up. If you want lots of inspiration, pick up the book “Sisters on the Fly”. Those ladies have turned their campers into rolling cottages with all the comforts of home.

Oh I can’t WAIT to see how your camper evolves. My parents had a trailer when we were kids and she still uses some of the same kitchen utensils and items in her modern RV. I plan on taking those items and putting them back into a retro trailer some day. :D Keep us updated!!!

Love those colors! What color is the camper?

You will love piling up stuff and making it pretty! I bought a 1957 Jewel travel trailer about 5 years ago and LOVE it to pieces! Pics on my blog! Your blog and store are wonderful!

Hugs,
Maryjane

A paint job is on the wish list. It’s in such good shape now that it’s not a top priority. I’m flip-flopping, but I really love the idea of a soft green and yellowish ivory two tone.

It’s a really cute camper. I keep picturing the potential in my mind, then I look at the pictures and realize I have a lot of stuff to do, but even as it is right now, it’s usable. The couple who I’m buying it from are absolutely lovely and have already done a lot.
