Upcycling an old dresser drawer 11/07/11

I’ve had a project on my mind lately and am trying to figure out the best way to do the final execution. What I’d like to do is take an old dresser drawer that I picked up at a local market and attach some wooden spindles that I found at a picker-style place up in Michigan a few weeks back. It would be cool if the legs could fold, yet still be very stable when in use. Otherwise, fixed legs with cross bracing would be acceptable as well.

I intend to use it as a butler tray for cocktail fixings at parties or maybe just an end table.

Any thoughts or ideas? I’d love to hear them!

You know, I have a couple old dressers and I debated doing something similar to make them planters out in the garden over the summer, but figured they’d end up getting rotted out and gross, and what a waste then!!
I like your idea MUCH better! I can’t speak to which leg method would work better…

What a great idea! All my bottles are currently bunched up down one end of the kitchen bench just waiting for some kind of organisational solution. Maybe with the folding legs, if they have some kind of brace that swings down on hinges and slots into place somehow, that would keep it stable as well as foldable? Would love to see how this works out :)
