The summer is always a busy time for us. Chicago keeps us locked indoors for so long during the winter months, that it's hard to get me to stay inside very long once things warm up.
Here are the broad strokes:
We went to Texas to visit family.
Sophia turned 10 and got her ears pierced.
Will turned 2.
We got the Yellowstone camper and have been fixing it up.
I got hi...

We've gotten to the part where we decide what color to paint the exterior of our vintage Shasta LoFlyte. I've very quickly put some options together in Photoshop. The fabric for the awning (I've already purchased) is an outdoor wide cabana stripe in light teal and white.
Which one do you like?

I had big plans to sew the crap out of some stuff this weekend, but the weather outside was just too pretty. Then our friends Dan and Carolyn got married yesterday in a ceremony perfectly timed with the purported rapture. (Everyone we know was still in the room by the end of the night, verifying that they are all complete heathens.)
We did manage to get a lot of plants into some dirt, but these sewing plans for the Shasta are next on the to-do list:
Sewing an awning for a vintage camper.

Oh crap I'm exhausted. SO many nooks, crannies, cabinets, corners, hinges...Lots of things that have to be unscrewed, pulled off, painted around, and replaced.
I've painted countless rooms over the years and almost always been able to knock one out in a solid day, but here I am with this tiny camper and after 2 full days I'm only about 2/3 of the way done. It's good, though. Things are coming along and if scrubbing, patching, and painting does anything, it gives you an intimate knowledge of every square inch. We'r...

Here's where I'm netting out so far with paint colors (I love the colors in the Martha Stewart Paint line.) as well as flooring, fabric, and lighting. I may try to develop a muted red, white, and blue palette as well, but the green and blue feels so fresh. It's all throughout our house...I just can't get away from it no matter how I try!
Since I'll be using accessories from Bluebird Goods, I'm trying to keep a fairly neutral background that is still fresh, friendly, and not too stark. I'll be sewing everything...

...Perfect back cushions for the Ikea Meldal daybed.
I've played around with all sorts of cushion options for the Ikea Meldal daybed that we keep in the front room. Nothing has fit right or was too expensive for me right now. I thought about sewing, but I've never done a box cushion and good foam is $$$$. So yesterday I measured the back of the daybed and set out to see what I could find. I didn't have to go too far. Target has box cushions in a seasonal end cap that fit perfectly at four across and they're only $...
