There are so many things that pass through my mind as "Oh my gosh, I need to do/try that!" and I always lose track of them. So this year, as my New Year's resolution, I am going to keep a running list here and cross things off as I get to them. Hopefully it works out and by this time next year, I can look back and feel like I got a lot done.

Since the summer I've been constantly amazed by the organizing ideas posted on Pinterest. I've gathered up a few, 83 to be precise on my Organization board over there. I've also shared 16 of my favorite ideas that I use in my own home here. I hope you find one or two (or more) that inspire you to try them out. If you do, please leave a comment below! (I love comments.)
So as you, like many of us, take stock of your house situation for the New Year, consider some of these creative ideas for organizing. Per...

I've been keeping my eyes out for an old china cabinet to fix up. I'm going to use it to store linens outside our laundry room. It needs to be narrow in width and length and probably no taller than 6 feet or so. If you're in the Chicago area or within a couple of hours' drive, would you let me know if a good candidate is in your local thrift/antique/junk shop. I'm looking to keep it in the neighborhood of $50.
Thank you!

A few days ago I started this project and now that I've found my camera's flash card, I wanted to show the final outcome.
I ordered chalkboard Contact Paper from Amazon.com and a rectangular flourish punch to make fast work of the chalkboard labels. The cracker jars are easily found just about anywhere, but I picked mine up at Target.
Taaaahdaaaah!

My kitchen is making me nuts. There is a lack of uniformity that is making my eye twitch and my PMS flare like an A-Bomb. It's time to go drop half my paycheck at the Container Store. All the clunky stuff that is rarely used will go on shelving in the basement. Cute mid-century canisters, you're going on eBay and being replaced with a lineup of glass cracker jars with chalkboard labels (Spotted at The Flibbertigibbet Blog). Mismatched rice bins, your hours are numbered.
I'm out for blood.
There will be ze...

I've been keeping my guitars, mandolins, and other stringed instruments in a corner...in their cases...not getting played...for way too long. I'm the sort that will pick up my guitar every day if it's out, but out of sight, out of mind. So I've been looking for a creative way to display my instruments in a way that won't damage the crap out of our plaster walls and will allow for easy access. I do not care for commercial guitar hooks. They require such large holes for the wall anchors and I just don't like the way th...

I suspect we all have those things that gather up on our kitchen windowsill. I certainly do! "Special" rocks gifted by my kids, a jar of champagne corks from various celebrations, clothespins that we use to crimp bags closed...they all end up in little piles or bins sitting around the kitchen.
Well, I finally found a use for all those blue glass canning jars that I've been collecting hoarding. Lined up on my window ledge, they filter the light in a pretty way and unify that mishmash of all the little things that ...

I'd rather exercise a little creative re-use when it comes to home storage and organization solutions. I've been gathering lots of inspiration from around the web and adding to my Pinterest board. Have a look>
Here are a couple of my favorites. A couple of years ago, I started gathering a stash of vintage blue Ball glass jars...you know, the ones with the zinc lids? I knew they had great potential, and have been looking for a neat way to put them to use. This might just fit the bill. What do you think?
