There are so many things that pass through my mind as "Oh my gosh, I need to do/try that!" and I always lose track of them. So this year, as my New Year's resolution, I am going to keep a running list here and cross things off as I get to them. Hopefully it works out and by this time next year, I can look back and feel like I got a lot done.

My friend Sean and his wife Amy gave us a beautiful red enamel cast iron pot for our wedding. After using it as a fabulous piece of shelf decor for 2 1/2 years, I've finally whipped it out and put it to work.
Yesterday afternoon I spent about 4 hours in the kitchen (not counting the hour run to the grocery store) cooking the full on Julia Child Boef Bourguignon and let me tell you that it was worth every single second. I totally get what all the fuss is about.

January in Chicago is nothing if not anti-climactic. It's the end of the holiday buzz and the beginning of the long and tortured march toward Spring.
