So apparently this fixing up vintage campers thing isn't a one time thing. It's not even a 4 time thing.
When I started shopping around for a camper to fix up a year ago, the Airflyte was the one that made my heart skip a beat, but I couldn't touch them at around $3,000, and that was on the low end. But apparently I built up some good camper karma by fixing up the others and putting them back on the road. My roomie out at the hangar had his paws on one that looked pretty scary on the outside. So scary that I wasn'...

So it went a little something like this. I designed a website for a local scooter shop in trade for a scooter. Sold the scooter for a 1968 Shasta LoFlyte, sold the LoFlyte to buy a 1955 Yellowstone Sunset, then sold the Yellowstone to buy...
A 1973 Airstream Tradewind. (yippee!)
(Tons of pics here)
I think we'll stand on the Airstream for awhile. What's funny is that all of these upgrades required no additional money. It was just better opportunities to trade up that presented themselves. Kind of like a vint...

This is the time of year where the last minute dash for the hard-to-shop-for is in full effect. The gals over at Loyal Order of the Glamper, a group of extra-fabulous vintage camper enthusiasts were having a chat about what we'd like in our stockings this year. LED candles are always helpful, cute fake fireplaces, any sort of solar lighting, electric blankets or hot water bottles for those chilly spring and fall camp outs, and you can never go wrong with a sock monkey.
Amongst our scavenger hunt for great gift ide...

So yesterday I showed you all the decor of our 1955 Yellowstone Sunset. Now for the really fun part...all the other Sisters on the Fly campers that were at the event. Some folks really went all the way with the Halloween decorations!

We've been all over the area this summer in our little camper, but I hadn't been anywhere alone yet until this past weekend. I joined the Sisters on the Fly last spring after getting tons of inspiration from the book of the same name and this weekend was the first time that I was able to join one of their adventures. We all met in Potato Creek State Park just outside South Bend, Indiana.
Sorry about the dark camera phone pictures. I haven't been able to find my camera for 2 weeks. I live with a toddler. Stuff goes...

The summer is always a busy time for us. Chicago keeps us locked indoors for so long during the winter months, that it's hard to get me to stay inside very long once things warm up.
Here are the broad strokes:
We went to Texas to visit family.
Sophia turned 10 and got her ears pierced.
Will turned 2.
We got the Yellowstone camper and have been fixing it up.
I got hi...

So remember how I was all "LoFlyte this..." and "LoFlyte that..."? Well, silly me read an article over at Loyal Order of the Glamper about another trailer that was super cute, wanted to know about the manufacturer, ended up surfing from one article to the next and then on over to Cragislist....yadda yadda, the LoFlyte is sold and now I own a 19' mid-50's Yellowstone.
How ya like that for totally skimming over all the details?
But the truth is that it pretty much happened exactly like that. Dave and I were w...

...on the vintage camper
Progress!
My super-awesome husband finished painting the front 2/3rds of the camper and added my lights. I'm saving the original fixtures in case we ever sell it, but I wanted something a little more old beach house and less mid-century modern. The decor is heavily inspired by my childhood spent on the beaches of Galveston Island.
I got the front curtain up. It's re-used from a previous kitchen done in a vintage farmhouse style, so I'll need to add an extra panel along the bottom f...
