Halloween 2011 10/31/11

Sophia and I took Will out for his first round of trick-or-treating this afternoon. She's been coaching him how how to say it for the past week or so, like the fantastic big sister she is. He toddled after her, climbing up stairs, announcing "tree a tree" and giving a polite "tee you" when the homeowners dropped a piece of candy in his little bucket. Will, Dave, the flea, and me. 09/25/11

Will, Dave, and I loaded up and headed out to an area flea market this morning. I've been nursing a bug to not just sell new stuff in my shop, but to find cool vintage stuff to re-purpose and craft into some new little thing. Today my laser beam focus was on silver plate. Catching up 09/16/11

The summer is always a busy time for us. Chicago keeps us locked indoors for so long during the winter months, that it's hard to get me to stay inside very long once things warm up. Baby Will and the Electric Toothbrush 11/14/10

This morning I was brushing my teeth when Dave walked into the bathroom with Will. He's developed this new thing where he opens his mouth wide when he sees you eating or drinking, like a little begging baby bird. After seeing that I was enjoying a feast of toothbrush and toothpaste, Will started mooching, so I held the sonic brush up and let him see what it was all about. Hilarity ensues.

Free ranging in the backyard 08/20/10

The mornings have been really nice lately, fairly cool and mild. Will and I have been spending them in the backyard, where we'll allow the girls to free range while I have my coffee and check email. The past 2 mornings they've been pretty timid, but I'm guessing those days are behind them!

I've been busy, busy, busy! First on the list is my new online store, Bluebird Goods. After moving, I got so inspired by this 1927  bungalow with it's original stained glass windows and kitchen cabinets. I want to capture this environment and blend it with what I grew up around at my grandmother's home on the Gulf Coast. I love making things, fixing up old furniture, and using antiques to decorate with whenever possible. Old things have so much more character than new, plus you have to hunt for the right thing. ...

Quick visit 06/25/10

My brother Jamie and his fiance, Emily, were passing through town from Boston en route to Iowa. We got to meet up with them for dinner, a quick visit, but we are looking forward to more leisurely quality time with them later this summer. Baby Will certainly enjoyed meeting them!
